چکیده

Digital Twin, as an emerging technology related to Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet of Things (IoT), has attracted increasing attentions during the past decade. Conceptually, a Twin is digital replica physical entity in real world, this leveraged study design cooperative driving system at non-signalized intersections, allowing connected vehicles cooperate with each other cross intersections without any full stops. Within proposed framework, we developed enhanced first-in-first-out (FIFO) slot reservation algorithm schedule sequence crossing vehicles, consensus motion control calculate vehicles’ referenced longitudinal motion, model-based estimation tackle communication delay packet loss. Additionally, augmented reality (AR) human-machine-interface (HMI) designed provide guidance drivers vehicles. Agent-based modeling simulation conducted Unity game engine based on real-world map San Francisco, human-in-the-loop (HITL) results prove benefits algorithms 20% reduction travel time 23.7% energy consumption, respectively, when compared traditional signalized intersections.

Aggressiveness propensity index for driving behavior at signalized intersections.

The development of a quantitative intersection aggressiveness propensity index (API) is described in this paper. The index is intended to capture the overall propensity for aggressive driving to be experienced at a given signalized intersection. The index is a latent quantity that can be estimated from observed environmental, situational and driving behavior variables using structural equations...

Delay Variability at Signalized Intersections

Delays that individual vehicles may experience at a signalized intersection are usually subject to large variation due to randomness of traffic arrivals and interruption caused by traffic signal control. While such variation may have important implications for the planning, design and analysis of signal controls, currently there is no analytical model available to quantify it. This paper descri...

Perception of Waiting Time at Signalized Intersections

Introduction Perceived waiting time (PWT) at signalized intersections differs from the real value of waiting time (WT), and varies with signal design. The onerousness of delay depends on the conditions under which it is experienced. Using weighted travel time may contribute to optimal signal control if its use can improve upon assuming that all time is weighted equally by users. This research e...

Angle-accident Risk at Signalized Intersections

This paper demonstrates how a new modeling methodology can be applied to intersection angle-accident risk evaluation with data collected from 81 signalized intersections in the Tokyo Metropolitan area. Angle collisions between through traffic flow and opposite right-turn (please note that vehicles travel along the left side of the road in Japan) traffic flow are the second most common type at s...

Evaluation of bike boxes at signalized intersections.

This paper presents a before-after study of bike boxes at 10 signalized intersections in Portland, Oregon. The bike boxes, also known as advanced stop lines or advanced stop boxes, were installed to increase visibility of cyclists and reduce conflicts between motor vehicles and cyclists, particularly in potential "right-hook" situations. Before and after video were analyzed for seven intersecti...
